Dakota Digital came to SEMA 2019 to showcase MLX Harley products and chew bubble gum. And they were all out of bubble gum. What they did have were plenty of MLX-series gauges for Harley-Davidsons on hand; which is good, because that’s what they were there to promote.
Like the clip says, these are direct plug-in replacements. Rewiring and splicing, etc are kept to a bare minimum (if at all). That means less time and effort on installation, more time and effort doing this thing called “riding” which is why most of us got motorcycles in the first place. Looking cool would be second.
You get 31 illumination colors with which to play. Riders independently select colors for the main gauge reading, message center information, bar-graph readouts and gauge labels, or can choose from 12 preset themes. The message centers below the main speed and tach readings offer plenty of information and can be configured to show just what the rider wants to see. Gauge displays also automatically dims for comfortable night time riding and brighten to a high contrast mode for excellent visibility, even in direct sunlight.
To top it all off, the Dakota Digital MLX-8414 features Bluetooth technology for the available mobile app for both Android and Apple iOS devices. Meaning, you have continuous access for the setup and customization preferences with your smart phone or tablet.
