The following includes excerpts from Can-Am Off-Road…
If you’ve been living under a rock, Travis Pastrana probably jumped over it at some point. By 4 years old, Pastrana was riding a motorcycle and the need for speed never left. Despite excelling in mountain biking and his studies (he graduated from high school three years early), he knew his future was all about motorsports.
Pastrana has accumulated 17 X Games medals, including 11 gold medals, plus five golds from the Gravity Games, as well as more wins at other events, including Dew Tour and Red Bull X-Fighters. At the 2006 X-Games, Pastrana redefined what was possible with his groundbreaking double backflip on a motorcycle. He’s raced everything from Rally, NASCAR, FMX and side-by-side vehicles. And now Pastrana joins other icons in motorsports, such as Ken Block and Casey Currie, in the Can-Am Off-Road family.
“Can-Am makes the fastest and most durable side-by-side vehicles on the market,” said Pastrana. “After some coaxing by my good friend and the mechanic [Hubert Roland] who is always putting my broken vehicles back together, I gave a Can-Am Maverick X3 a shot on a 1200-mile New Year’s trip in Baja. I was sold, and I’m happy to now be with a company that’s as excited as I am to push their vehicles to the limit. Since the switch, we haven’t changed a single belt or axle at Pastranaland.”

In the late 1990s, Can-Am designers and engineers were the first to equip ATVs with the TTI rear suspension, and, in 2002, they were also the first to offer a manufacturer-approved ATV for two people. In combining maximum power, handling, and traction, Can-Am ATVs are the choice of enthusiasts and professionals – who drive them right to the podium. With Can-Am ATVs, side-by-side vehicles, and roadsters, BRP is carrying on a long tradition of conquests. More than 30 years ago, the world discovered the Can-Am brand through revolutionary motocross bikes. BRP has since withdrawn from that market, but the Can-Am legend and winning spirit live on – with passion and exhilaration.
