Just because your 1964-72 GM A-body, 1955-57 Chevy, or 1963-72 C10 has a full frame doesn’t mean it doesn’t flex. Summit Racing Frame Brace Kits increase the frame’s torsional stiffness to improve steering and handling response while eliminating most body roll during hard cornering. That extra frame stiffness also means any aftermarket suspension upgrades you’ve added will actually work the way they were designed to. They even include dimensional drawings in the instructions so you can accurately position the braces without guessing.
Summit Racing’s friend Terry Wilson is doing a frame-up build of a 1967 Chevelle that will get a 402 cubic inch LSA supercharged engine. Naturally, that kind of power would make the Chevelle a flexi-flyer, so he installed a Summit Racing Frame Brace Kit. You can follow the installation in this Coverman66 YouTube video.
These weld-in kits feature mandrel-bent and fixture-welded tubular steel side braces for each frame rail, plus laser-cut steel boxing plates to further reinforce the frame rails. They also include an adjustable transmission crossmember to accommodate most GM automatic and some manual transmissions, a rear exhaust crossmember with plenty of driveshaft and floor clearance, stainless steel exhaust hangers for 2.5 and 3 inch exhaust systems, and body mount bushing reinforcements. The kits fits two-door models only.
This weld-in kit features mandrel-bent and fixture-welded tubular steel side braces for each frame rail, an adjustable transmission crossmember to accommodate most GM automatic and some manual transmissions, and a rear exhaust crossmember. You also get weld-in motor mount frame stands. The kit can be used with or without the factory ‘frame horn’ mounts for the transmission bellhousing. Removing the mounts will give you more clearance for headers and exhaust. Stainless steel exhaust hangers and body mount bushing reinforcements are included.
This bolt-in kit features a fully-welded tubular steel brace assembly with an integral rear trailing arm crossmember. It has multiple arm mounting points so you can adjust the truck’s rear ride height. The brace assembly bolts to chassis plates that fit inside the factory frame rails. You also get an adjustable transmission crossmember and bolt-on motor mounts for small block Chevy, big block Chevy, and GM LS engines. The motor mount frame plates are slotted so you can adjust the engine position for valve cover/firewall or oil pan clearance.
